FOCI also allow two special categories of membership:

FOCI instituted a Scholarship Award in memory of the Late General Murtala Mohammed in 1976. It is a scheme targeted at students in Building Technology and civil Engineering degree programmes in tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

The Murtala Ramat Muhammed Scholarship Fund is a major component of FOCI's Corporate Social Responsibilities in the strategic development of Building and Civil Engineering in Nigeria.
