High Chief Vincent Barrah (Mnim Charter) was born on 20th March 1955 at Umuosu in Isi-ala Ngwa North Local Government Area of Abia State.
He started primary education at St. Peter’s School Ogboete - Enugu and completed it at L.A. School, Umuosu Nsulu due to the Nigerian Civil War. He attended Commercial School and obtained First School Leaving Certificate, WAEC and Advanced ‘A’ level Certificates in various Commercial Subjects.
He began distant learning Education programmes as was available in those days where he obtained the following additional qualifications:
He registered as an Associate Member of Nigerian Institute Management in 1989 And was up-graded to Full Membership of the Institute in 2001 MNIM (Chartered).
He attended various Courses organized by Nigerian Institute of Management. He also attended various Audit Committee Training organized by the Audit Institute of Nigeria - Lagos.
He worked in Impresit Bakolori Nigeria Limited as a Confidential Secretary 1976-1979, From 1980 – 1986 as Senior Personnel Administration Officer From 1986 – 1992 he worked as Assistant Personnel Administration Manager He was promoted to Personnel Administration Manager in 1992 when he took-over from the Expatriate Personnel Manager of the Company, a position he held till 2001 when he resigned from the Company and joined Salini Nigeria Limited.
As stated above, he joined Salini Nigeria Limited as a Personnel/Administration Coordination Manager from 2001 till date.
He received 10, 15, 20 and 25 years long service award in Impresit Bakolori Nigeria Limited, and also 10, 15 and 20 years long service award in his present employment at Salini Nigeria limited.
He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree of Personnel and Industrial Relations Management Ph.D. by GFM Christian University Lagos in 2007.
He is deeply involved in humanitarian activities where he donates bags of Rice annually to the Widows and Needy in his native Community in Abia State, a programme that has lasted for over 18 years.
He also provided Water Bore Hole in his Community in the year 2003.
He was conferred a Chieftaincy title by the Eze of his Autonomous Community in 1993 and was later upgraded to High Chief and now promoted to Super High Chief (SHC) due to his numerous humanitarian activities in his Community.
He was elected a Council Member of Federation of Construction Industries in Nigeria on 29th June, 2006 and since then he has been serving in the Industrial Relation Committee.
He has been actively involved in the negotiation of various National Joint Industrial Council Conditions of Service for both Junior and Senior Staff employees in the Construction Industry in Nigeria. He became the Chairman of this Committee from June, 2017 till date and has successfully concluded three NJIC Conditions of Service negotiations in 2018, 2020 and 2022 respectively. He has served as Vice President of the Federation for 5 years and as Deputy President for another five years, it therefore become expedient for him to be the next President in line with the Administrative Handbook of the Federation.
He is married with 6 Children and 13 grand Children.
